Founded by Cape Town based couple, Carin and Ivan, the studio blends steel, wood, and woven elements into handmade furniture and everyday items. With a deep respect for raw materials and tradtional craftsmanship, their work pairs the precision of science with the soul of art. Every piece is thoughtfully forged by hand, combining strength and softness, utility and beauty.

Hi! We're Carin and Ivan - a couple who found common ground in our love of making things by hand.
Ivan's background is in business and science, but he's always felt most at ease when working with tools and building something real. His skills in welding, woodwork, and problem-solving bring precision and structure to everything we create. He loves taking on a challenge and is always eager to start the next project. Carin has a Fine Arts degree and has worked across fashion, hospitality, and e-commerce, always weaving creativity into her career. With a passion for interiors, photography, and anything that allows her to use her hands, she brings a sense of beauty, detail, and storytelling to our work.
Forge Theory Studio grew from our shared desire to create pieces that are not only functional but meaningful - combining raw materials with traditional craftsmanship to bring warmth, texture, beauty and purpose into people's homes.
